چکیده

Viral Nervous Necrosis (VNN) is a major threat for the European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) aquaculture industry. The improvement of disease resistance through selective breeding promising option to reduce outbreaks. With development high-throughput genotyping technologies, identification genomic regions involved in could improve efficiency breeding. aim this study was identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) VNN and quantify their effect. Four experimental backcross families comprising 378, 454, 291 211 individuals two commercial populations A B 1027 1042 obtained from partial factorial crosses (59♂ x 20♀ pop A; 39♂ 14♀ B) were submitted redspotted grouper nervous necrosis virus (RGNNV) challenge by bath. high-density single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chip panel designed develop ThermoFisher Axiom™ 57k SNP DlabChip, which used all building high quality linkage map. In families, composite interval mapping performed on 30,917, 23,592, 30,656 31,490 markers, respectively. populations, 40,263 markers 41,166 perform genome-wide association studies (GWAS) using GBLUP BayesCπ approach. One QTL identified chromosome LG12 three four one additional LG8 detected only family. revealed total seven QTLs, among previously mentioned both. This QTL, mapped an 3.45 cM, explained 9.21% genetic variance A, while other QTLs individually less than 1% variance. bass, with having strong effect, should have great impact Future work focus fine causal mutation present whole genome sequencing.

Skin mucus proteome map of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax).

Skin mucus is the first barrier of fish defence. Proteins from skin mucus of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) were identified by 2DE followed by LC-MS/MS. From all the identified proteins in the proteome map, we focus on the proteins associated with several immune pathways in fish. Furthermore, the real-time PCR transcript levels in skin are shown. Proteins found include apolipoprotein ...

Are sex ratios in wild European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) populations biased?

Sex ratios in farmed European sea bass are highly biased towards males (75 to 95%), which is problematic for aquaculture. In this mini-review, we re-analyse fisheries literature data about sex ratios in wild sea bass from 13 population samples, representing altogether 4889 individuals covering the major part of the distribution range of the species. We find that as a whole, the sex ratio of wil...

European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) Immune Status and Disease Resistance Are Impaired by Arginine Dietary Supplementation

Infectious diseases and fish feeds management are probably the major expenses in the aquaculture business. Hence, it is a priority to define sustainable strategies which simultaneously avoid therapeutic procedures and reinforce fish immunity. Currently, one preferred approach is the use of immunostimulants which can be supplemented to the fish diets. Arginine is a versatile amino acid with impo...

A polygenic hypothesis for sex determination in the European sea bass Dicentrarchus labrax.

Polygenic sex determination, although suspected in several species, is thought to be evolutionarily unstable and has been proven in very few cases. In the European sea bass, temperature is known to influence the sex ratio. We set up a factorial mating, producing 5.893 individuals from 253 full-sib families, all reared in a single batch to avoid any between-families environmental effects. The pr...
